eyeing the I's

Recently i was going through the education space advertisements and i was taken by a surprise with this year IIT JEE Results. Almost 2000 people from Andhra Pradesh qualified the JEE. Truly over the years a remarkable increase in the number of students getting through for the ELITE Insitution. This trend has always been there when you analyze the students across South. Here students always thrive to get into the top notch institutes. On the contrary when you look at the EAST Indian states, there is lot of competition among the Same Age group who want to make a career in Singing. Yes I am talking about the Sony's "Indian Idol" where 60-70% are predominantly from the NORTH-EAST. While students from south are busy with their regular studies trying to get into the IIT's,NIT's, BITS,AFMC's,JIPMER's...the students from N-E are ready to forgo their studies and concentrate on taking up SiNgInG(check the notes -read it Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Da Ne) as their career. I am bedazzled that in all the singing competitions there isn't Single individual from the South. Probably the young guns over here are media shy and are busy cracking the hard core force=mass*acceleration problems than practicing long hours of music, slog as much as possible to enter the colleges, then again work their ass off to get a good break in their career to earn those fat packets. Whereas the wannbe idols are very ambitious of entering the glamorous industry so that they claim the fame very fast, earn all the perks at a young age and spend the rest of the life in comfort and they give in everything for this. Both in their own spaces are working Hard which might be the "KEY FACTOR" for the successes. But it appears strange to me why isn't there a mixed competetion everywhere why should the competition be specific to a region, probably the IIT crackers can crack this...
